Hook now has an adopted Neighbourhood Plan, which means that the Plan is a part of the statutory development plan for this part of Hart District. The Plan was formerly adopted by Hart District Council at their meeting on the 27th February 2020. This excellent result was the culmination of many years of work by volunteers from the community, supported by Hook Parish Council. Hook Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group (NPSG) was responsible for coordinating the work.
Why do we need a Neighbourhood Plan?
Hart District Council are the Local Planning Authority (LPA) and they will now have to afford due regard to the Plan when considering Planning Applications in our area as it is now a key part of our plan led system. The Plan provides the views of local people on how and where future development should occur within Hook Parish.
History of the Plan
Hook had been working on the Neighbourhood Plan since 2014, and they found – like many communities – that it was a good deal more difficult than the Government originally thought. How can I get involved?
The Parish Council is consulted on every Planning Application in Hook Parish so it is essential that the statements made in the Plan are reflected in any responses they provide to the LPA and attendance of the Public at the Planning and Infrastructure Meetings will assist with this process. Also, there are many initiatives within the Plan which would improve the environment of Hook Village and all local residents and businesses should take part in the process of implementing the Neighbourhood Plan. What goes into a Neighbourhood Plan?
The Plan had to conform to strategic planning policies, which includes the Local Plan which has now been made by Hart District Council, so this has been taken into account by the Steering Group who led the process.
The Neighbourhood Plan has taken into account all of the comments made by local residents and businesses and then described what sort of homes should be provided in and around Hook in future and what sort of infrastructure should be put into place to support both new development and the existing community.
The Hook Neighbourhood Plan sets out a vision for the future of the parish for the next twenty years and includes both development and the infrastructure needed to support it.
